TL & aTL for Cluster I
I must say it really amazed me and totally took me off guard. It all happened after we sang the birthday song for both Lin De and Daron. “What should I do?” I asked myself. Shall I simply let them blew the candle? Or shall I pray, like how I would do in other settings? This happened when we had debriefed the NDP motivators’ team leaders for our cluster. 5 of them are Malays. I have never prayed in front of Malays and what more I am asking them to join me to pray for my 2 beloved sons.
“As you know I am a Christian and they are my cell members, is it ok if I pray for them?” I asked. “Sure no problem, all we need to say is Amen right?” one of them replied. I was shocked. Shocked at their openess and their willingness to even to join me in a prayer of blessing over their 2 beloved mentors. And they ended with me with a loud AMEN
I was reminded by my OMLC (Oral Malay Language Course) teacher that to the Muslim, Islam is not a religion but the way of life. Can I see my Christian faith as the way of life and live it out as how the Muslim would live out Islam? Given my short one year working (n NDP06) with these malay youths from the various ITE, one thing I see is that they are looking for brothers or sisters that would believe in them and to walk alongside them. I am priviledged to be able to work with them in this 2 NDPs and be part of their journey. And I pray that I will be able to continue to be that positive voice to affirm them of their being and of their potential and also be the one that will be able to walk along in this journey with them.
“Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent! For I am with you, and no one will harm you because many people here in this city belong to me.” Acts 18:9b-10 (NLT)
