Was reading this article by Patrick D. Odum (http://www.heartlight.org/articles/200801/20080122_lasthour.html). Simple reflection as it might be, but it once again dawn on me how am I living my life now. Am I living it to its fullest and living it in accordance to what the Lord has intended me to live?
The article boils down to one simple fact….How will you spend the last 60 minutes you have on earth? I like what the author say “When we understand that life is finite and that we don’t reallly have that long, we distil it (life) down to its simplest essence.” What is life in its simplest essence? What is the most important thing that will flashes across our mind or unfinished business that we need to do when we know we have only 60 minutes to live?
It is good once again at the beginning of the year that the Lord throws me this question. I find this question particularly invirogating especially in the beginning of Year of Sabbath which the church is entering into. Let’s not rush through this year. Let’s be still and reconsider the important things in our lives and then to make a commitment to live as though every day is our last so that each living hours, minutes and seconds that we spend will be spent in its fullest. Selah.
“Be still, and know that I am God;” Ps 46:10a
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know what day your Lord will come…..So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.” Matt 24:42, 44
